Union leaders pledge their support for the campaign to stop the extradition of Sean Garland
Trade Union leaders support Sean Garland
The leaders of some of Ireland's largest trade unions, including the President of the Irish Congress of
Trade Unions, addressed a fringe meeting during the ICTU conference in Killarney last Tuesday where they pledged their unequivocal
support for the campaign against the extradition of Workers Party National Treasurer and former President Sean Garland.
The meeting was chaired by Eamon Devoy, General Secretary of the Technical, Engineering and Electrical Union
(TEEU) and addressed by Jimmy Kelly, Regional Organiser of UNITE and Jack O'Connor, General President of the Services, Industrial,
Professional and Technical Union (SIPTU). The meeting was also briefed on legal aspects of the campaign and by Sean
Garland himself.
