Andrew McGuinness is 37 years of age and married to Sinead. Andrew will be contesting the next General Election in the Dublin South Central constituency as a Worker's Party candidate.
 
Andrew, who was born in Drimnagh, was educated in Our Lady of Good Counsel and Our Lady of Mercy schools in Drimnagh. He has also completed third level courses with the National University of Ireland (Maynooth) and UCD.

Andrew works for the Trade Union SIPTU in their Organising Unit. He previously worked in the Trade Union owned Education and Training Services Trust were he was employed in the area of Health and Safety. He as part of a team provided and promoted skills training and a pathway to lifelong learning for trade union members through the Trust.

Andrew worked as a scaffolder in the construction industry for many years and spearheaded many campaigns that led to substantial increases in pay, pensions and improvements in health and safety on construction sites.Andrew is a member of the Inland Waterways Association of Ireland, an organisation that promotes the canals and rivers of Ireland for recreation.
 
Andrew is also a member of the Cherry Orchard Development Council and a founding member of the Ballyfermot Bulls basketball club and was recently nominated by the Congress of Trade Unions to the Ballyfermot Partnership as their representative.
